Sirqus Alfon

I totally ripped this off of their myspace page, but it's so true, that I couldn't have written it better. To see the guy in the photo play the Mario Bros. theme song on his melodica, it made my month. You can catch them 1 more time in NYC at the Slipper Room on November 29th.

Sirqus Alfon is one of the strangest on-stage experiences you'll witness. Four geniuses mix crazy acrobatics and dance-numbers with kick-ass world hits in megaphone-style. This is electric boogie and clown-rap accompanied by a leder-hosen trio which makes an old double-bass, melodica, and a small toy drumkit sound like arena-rock. With razor sharp timing they succeed in making a brilliant parody of subculture and popstars. Sirqus Alfon's explosive stage presence delivers unavoidable humour and explodes your conception of the music you thought you hated or loved. You don't really get what you've seen but the only thing you know is that you can absolutely not stand still and a smile is stapled to your face for a long, long time. Sirqus Alfon is one of best street-theatre groups in the world. And now they are moving fast on to stages in Europe. They won the audience prize at Berlin Lacht international street festival 2004 and are touring frequently in Europe. After four successful tours in 2005 Sirqus Alfon are on their way up and off to meet new audiences with an energy that completely bursts out of their ears.
